Conditions Treated

Dr. Chang provides comprehensive orthopedic care for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, with a specialized focus on foot and ankle injuries and disorders. He treats patients throughout Windward Oʻahu, Kailua, and Honolulu, offering both non-surgical and surgical solutions tailored to restore mobility, relieve pain, and improve function.

Osteoarthritis is a common cause of joint pain and stiffness, particularly in the knee, hip, shoulder, and ankle. Patients often notice worsening pain with activity, decreased range of motion, and difficulty performing daily tasks such as walking or climbing stairs.

Fractures of the foot and ankle are traumatic bony injuries often caused by falls, sports injuries, or accidents. Patients typically experience sudden pain, swelling, bruising, and difficulty bearing weight or walking following the injury. Often times surgery is necessary to treat the fracture.

Bunions and hammertoes are common forefoot deformities that can cause pain, shoe irritation, and difficulty walking. Patients often notice progressive toe misalignment, pressure-related pain with footwear, and increasing discomfort during standing or daily activities.

Foot and ankle deformities, such as flatfoot, high-arched (cavus) foot, and Charcot arthropathy, can lead to pain, instability, and difficulty walking. Patients often notice progressive changes in foot shape, altered balance, and increasing discomfort during standing or daily activities.

Soft tissue sports-related injuries of the foot and ankle, including ankle instability and repeated ankle sprains, are common causes of pain, swelling, and recurrent injury. Patients often experience pain with activity, feelings of the ankle “giving way,” and difficulty returning to sports or uneven walking surfaces.

Tendon injuries of the foot and ankle are common causes of pain, weakness, and loss of function, often occurring after acute injury or repetitive overuse. Patients may experience sudden pain or a popping sensation, swelling, and difficulty pushing off, walking, or returning to normal activities.
